Leelanau Cellars is the largest distributor of wine in Michigan and maintains its status as one of the most popular brands in the midwest. With the creation of a new brand, Farm Fresh, the winery is on track to be one of the top 50 wineries in the United States by 2022. Kate is working to promote the best possible customer experience, educate the guest while pouring wine, and build an overall brand image. She is responsible for sales transactions, merchandise stocking, and display, as well as ensuring a positive team experience.

The team will conduct market research, in-depth interviews, statistical analysis and then provide recommendations on how Care Virtue can best fulfill the needs of their consumers. She is gaining experience in hypothesis and survey design. As well as how to unbiasedly interpret quantitative and qualitative data.

Kate worked for SDCG in a variety of areas including SEO, website improvement, content creation, email marketing, social media strategy, and community outreach. Her main project was a webinar series focus on the economics of big data. She ran independent analyses and conducted marketing research in order to provide recommendations to SDCG. She worked as a self-starter and presented to experienced professionals. Kate feels she mastered remote working and feels confident in her ability to learn on the fly.

During the Fall semester of 2020, Kate ran google ads in Texas for the University of San Diego. She and one other student were responsible for developing themes they thought would be relevant to incoming students and prospective parents. They decided on themes around study abroad and financial aid. They conducted keyword research and updated their keywords list weekly. They ran a total of four ads simultaneous and made adjustments based on the previous week’s data to headlines. site links, descriptions, and paths. Their ads were the most successful for their entire semester, ranking above California where USD is most commonly searched.

While working with Done, Kate was responsible for content creation. Including social media content, ads and blog posts. She also conducted research on members and used data to help better target potential customers. One of Kate’s main goals of the internship was to help Done grow as whole, being that the company was start-up when she joined the team. Kate helped expanded Done’s reach to new channels and fostered a sense of trust within the community. Kate gained valuable insight about the start-up world by working along side the CEO and attending many growth meetings.

Kate worked with Modesto Jet Center in a transition period for their business, the company had recently been purchased and was doing a full revamp. Kate completed a social media analysis and audit, identifying potential and current customer profiles, and identified Modesto Jet’s direct competition. After working to establish S.M.A.R.T. goals for individual platforms, Kate provided examples and a direction for the aesthetic. Alongside the marketing director, Kate played a major role in the design of the new Modesto Jet Center logo and played a valuable role in the marketing re-launch.

Kate worked in a team established though a USD social media marketing class to boost the brand image of Party Fitness. As a team, they collected research on current members, created persona profiles, ran a social media audit, maintained a content calendar, ran A/B ad testing, and held a photoshoot. In the classroom, the team would report weekly findings and changes to their strategy. Kate found the most useful part of this experience was the feedback from her classmates and team. She found she is passionate about making creative decisions supported by data and then watching those choices boost the profitability of a company.

Working alongside the organization’s President, Kate was responsible for reviewing and negotiating leases and worked to obtain many different permits. During her time at Yackzan Group, the company was developing a large-scale property. Kate attended meetings with the city, architects and lawyers regarding the planning of the extensive development project. She also had the unique opportunity of delivering an eviction notice. Kate also worked on rebuilding Yackzan Group’s website along with their profile on Costar. She felt she gained insight from her diverse experiences and enjoyed being included in top-level conversations.

She also created and ran email ad campaigns She enjoyed running ads on both social media and email and then discussing her findings with the CEO.
